For students who do not meet the academic and English language requirements for a Master’s degree. Preparing students for direct entry to a postgraduate degree in architecture or an architecture-related subject at Newcastle University.

On campus and online study options

  • This program is available to study either on campus or online – giving students the flexibility to choose what’s best for them.
  • If your student starts online and is then able to travel to the UK, they’ll be able to transfer to an on-campus program in January or March/April 2022. They’ll need to meet any visa requirements and demonstrate good attendance and performance during their studies online.
  • If your student applies for an Online Extended program, they’ll be offered an Online Academic English plus Online or on-campus academic pathway study plan.

Academic requirements

  • A pass in an undergraduate degree or a Diploma (3-5 years) with suitable grades. Design route programmes: a portfolio and curriculum vitae (CV) is required. Non-design route programmes: a statement outlining your academic achievements, research projects, and evidence of relevant skills and experience is required. Students intending to progress to Creative Arts Practice: Previous study in a relevant academic discipline is required, as well as an electronic portfolio of creative work. Applicants with non-standard qualifications and relevant work experience will be considered on an individual basis.

  • 3 Terms: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all subskills) or equivalent
