Foundation Year

  • You can choose to take an additional Foundation Year before you start this course. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at degree level and covers the same modules across all business and law courses.
  • The modules covered will initially enhance your communications skills, digital and information literacy, and ability to think critically. In addition, modules covering the Foundations of Business Management, Law, and Social Sciences will not only support your progression onto your business degree, but also give you an introduction to other disciplines. You then have the added flexibility of switching your degree programme if another discipline captures your interest, subject to availability and entry requirements.

Entry Requirements

Degrees with Foundation Year 4 Year On Campus

  • 32 UCAS points from one A Level or 40 UCAS points from two A Levels, or equivalent qualifications
  • 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C/9-4 (including English) and Grade D/4 or above in Maths, or equivalent qualifications

Non-standard entry route A

  • If you come from a non-traditional background with no formal qualifications you will be invited on-Campus to complete an in-house numeracy and literacy test to illustrate your level of Maths and English. A formal interview will also take place. You will also need to provide two years of appropriate work experience evidenced by a full CV and a reference.
  • English language requirements for applicants whose first language is not English
  • An English language level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Please see 'Alternative English language qualifications' section below for alternatives to IELTS.

UK Entry Requirements

  • A Level: BBC
  • You will also need to possess Grade C/4 or above in GCSE Maths and English Language, or equivalent qualifications.

Non-standard entry route B:

  • If you come from a non-traditional background with no formal qualifications you will be invited on-campus to complete an in-house numeracy and literacy test to illustrate your level of Maths and English. A formal interview will also take place. You will also need to provide 3 years of proven work experience evidenced in a full CV along with a work reference.
  • Additional note for BSc Accounting and Finance:
  • Students who have completed ACCA or CIMA to a specified level can gain access to Years 2 or 3;
  • ACCA F1-F4 – Direct entry to Year 2
  • CIMA BA1-BA4 – Direct entry to Year 2
  • ACCA F1-F9 – Direct entry to Year 3
  • English language requirements for applicants whose first language is not English
  • An English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Please see 'Alternative English language qualifications' section below for alternatives to IELTS.
