Apply your creativity and keen eye for detail toward a career in event management. This program provides a practical overview of the functions, skills and knowledge required to successfully plan, organize, manage, promote and evaluate a festival, convention, trade show or special event.

  • You’ll study the concept of event design, the strategic event planning process, and technical logistics—gaining the management skills needed to successfully execute any special event, anywhere.
  • Event management is one of the fastest growing and dynamic segments of the Canadian tourism industry. Our graduates work in a diverse range of roles including with Shambhala Music Festival, Live Nation Concerts, the Vancouver Convention Centre and Sun Peaks Resort.

Entry Requirements

Limited admission

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent) or mature student status
  • English Studies 12/English First Peoples 12 with a minimum of 73% (or equivalent)
  • Foundations of Mathematics 11 or Pre-calculus 11 or Foundations of Mathematics 12 with a minimum C (or equivalent)

Note: Students with Pre-calculus 12 with a minimum C will be exempt from MATH 1100 and must make up the credits with an elective of their choice.

Computer Skills

  • If students entering the program have little or no experience using computers, they are advised to take an introductory computer course that familiarizes them with Microsoft application software.
