Crime in modern society can only be tackled thoroughly with a good understanding of the theory, history and challenges that face the discipline.
  • Students on our short postgraduate criminology course will consider these and learn how to apply their theoretical knowledge to a number of practical situations

This course can be completely tailored to fit your own professional interests, as you will be able to choose from five optional modules covering topics such as:

  • The sociological approach to crime, criminology and criminological theory
  • The role of forensic psychology in manging mentally disordered offenders
  • The status of the victim throughout the criminal process
  • The historic relationship between psychology and policing, and what this means for modern policing
  • Critical assessment of complex criminal investigations in accordance with national standards.
  • Throughout your study you will develop your skills in presenting reasoned arguments and backing them up with evidence through engaging discussion forums with fellow classmates. At the end of your course, there will be the opportunity to progress onto the PG Dip or Masters in criminology and criminal psychology.
