Our Biomedical, Biomechanics and Bioelectronics Engineering MSc degree focuses on advancing and updating your knowledge in biomechanics, biofluid mechanics and bioelectronics.
  • You will also receive a dynamic learning experience as you delve into medical imaging technology and artificial intelligence in image processing as part of this unique postgraduate engineering programme.
  • The aim of this specialist course is to create master’s qualified biomedical engineers who can help in the design, development, operation and research of complex medical devices for the modern biomedical and healthcare industry.

With our strong industry links, some projects are provided by hospital consultants and are based on solving practical biomedical problems and challenges.
  • You will have access to fully equipped laboratories, with excellent biomedical engineering research facilities. In the computer lab, you’ll have the opportunity to develop hands-on skills using modern computer software to solve problems relevant to biomedical issues.
  • This biomedical engineering master’s course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and is studied full-time over one year.

UK entry requirements

  • A 2:2 (or above) UK Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in an engineering, appropriate science or technology subject.
  • Other qualifications and relevant experience will be assessed on an individual basis.
  • Entry to this programme requires all students who are not nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA) and have temporary immigration permission to remain in the UK to obtain an ATAS certificate. If you are made an offer to join this course and you are not an EEA national, you will be required to obtain an ATAS certificate as a condition of your offer.

EU and International entry requirements

  • If you require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK, you must prove knowledge of the English language so that we can issue you a Certificate of Acceptance for Study (CAS). To do this, you will need an IELTS for UKVI or Trinity SELT test pass gained from a test centre approved by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and on the Secure English Language Testing (SELT) list. This must have been taken and passed within two years from the date the CAS is made.

English language requirements

  • IELTS: 6 (min 5.5 in all areas)
  • Pearson: 59 (59 in all sub scores)
  • BrunELT: 58% (min 55% in all areas)
  • TOEFL: 79 (min R18, L17, S20, W17)
  • The taught modules are delivered over two terms. During the second term you’ll also work on your dissertation part-time. This will be followed by four months of full-time effort. Your dissertation project will involve an advanced piece of investigation and research relevant to biomedical engineering.
  • This course can be studied 1 year full-time, starting in September.
