The Wireless Engineering Research and Education Center promotes research and education in the broad area of wireless engineering.
  • The center was initiated by a $25 million gift to the College of Engineering by Samuel L. Ginn in 2001 and draws upon the expertise of more than 20 faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering.
  • Since its inception in 2001, the center has become the focal point for cross-disciplinary research and academic activities, as well as, industrial-university collaborative research and development in the wireless engineering area. The research activities of the center enhance the ability of both departments’ faculties to attract extramural research funding and provide an unmatched educational experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • The center has also developed an undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Wireless Engineering degree. This program concentrates on wireless electrical engineering for wireless devices, systems, and networks.
