English Language and Literature students develop skills in text analysis and analytical thinking. They are educated to become experts capable of analysing the connections between literature and culture, and to be aware of the close relationship between the anthropological disciplines.

Career opportunities

  • Graduates of the department may work as English teachers in primary or secondary education provided they meet the requirements of the Ministry of National Education; as self-employed entrepreneurs working as translators or literary critics; in media and press management positions; or as executive assistants in international institutions.

Entry qualification 

  • High school / secondary education (or higher)
  • The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Turkish.
  • Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.
  • You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Territory requirements 

  • Quota for the department is 2 ppl and is applicable for all the applications around the world

  • TOEFL IBT 75
  • CAE Grade C or above
  • Yasar University FLAT exam 85%

Other requirements 

  • At least 1 reference(s) must be provided.
  • A motivation letter must be added to your application.

Programme structure

  • Courses include text analysis, English literature, American literature, cultural studies, theoretical and
    practical teaching methodologies, basic grammar, as well as Turkish – English and English – Turkish translation and writing techniques. Courses aim to develop the students’ skills and competencies in text
    analysis.
