Texila American University offers the 4 years Doctor of Medicine MD program for the qualified candidates who already hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences / Associate Degree / Diploma in Relevant Science Areas . 

During the first two years , students focus on basic medical sciences under direct supervision of qualified professors . The last 2 years will focus on clinical rotations in affiliated hospitals in Guyana / USA / Canada.

Texila American University takes pride in the students being admitted into its pre - medical programs . To ensure that quality in admissions are being maintained , a stringent checklist is followed while considering if the students are capable of handling rigorous courses and training . The students are expected to meet the eligibility standards in order take up a degree in medicine and to pursue their preferred program at Texila .  

  • A minimum of five ( 5 ) CXC / CSEC General Proficiency ( Grades I & Il ; and Ill from 1998 ) / five ( 5 ) passes at GCE ' O ' Level , including English Language , two science subjects including Biology , and Mathematics for the Pre - Medical Program . OR
  • Three ( 3 ) subjects at the GCE Advanced Level plus two ( 2 ) subjects at CXC / CSEC General Proficiency / GCE . Ordinary Level not obtained at Advanced Level . Two science subjects , English and Mathematics must be among the subjects obtained . OR
  • TWO ( 2 ) subjects at the GCE Advanced Level plus three ( 3 ) subjects at CXC / CSEC Genera Proficiency / GCE Ordinary Level not obtained at Advanced Level . Two science subjects , and Mathematics must be among the subjects obtained . 12 .

For Southern Africa & East Africa : 4.5 years - The eligibility criteria is :  

  • Diploma / Bachelors in Health Science / A level Cambridge with credits in PCBME ( Physics , Chemistry Biology , Maths & English ) 5.5 years - The eligibility criteria is : Grade 12 with credits in PCBME ( Physics , Chemistry , Biology , Maths & English )

Advanced Research Methodology - II Two Years of Basic Medical Sciences courses at the Guyana campus are followed by two years of Clinical Rotations in the United States and Guyana. PS. The curriculum is subject to change at the university's discretion Clinical Rotations Upon Completion of 2 Years of Basic Medical Sciences Curriculum, students become directly involved in the care and study of patients as they begin to work with team members caring for hospitalized Individual. Students’ progress through 6 to 8 weeks of transitional rotation depending on the location.

  • 6 Weeks of Psychiatry

Elective Rotations ( 20 Weeks ) : Students have the option to choose from more than 10 specializations
