Canada is the third-leading destination for international students to study in Canada. The National Statistics Office of Canada states that 621,565 international students hold study permits for different study levels in 2021.

There are various costs involved in studying in Canada at all levels. Most international students are keen to know and understand the grading system of Canadian universities before proceeding with the application process to get tertiary education in Canada. It is important to apprehend that the grading system in Canadian universities and colleges differs from other countries. All ten Canadian provinces have a special grading system, each following its own system. For instance, Schools in two provinces, British Columbia and Quebec, do not have the grade “D,” thus making the grade “C” the lowest grade for passing the threshold.

There are basically two major intakes and one minor intake in Canada’s universities

Fall Intake in Canada:-

The Fall intake is the primary intake for most Canadian colleges and universities. This intake generally starts in September, allowing students to prepare for the academic year.

Winter Intake in Canada

The Winter intake is smaller and less common than the Fall intake. The Winter intake usually begins in January, which makes it a good option for students who couldn’t make it to the Fall intake or need more time to prepare for their academic program.

English Proficiency Tests

TOEFL- Test of English as a Foreign Language ( One should note that a score of 35 on the SAT reading test will set them free from appearing in the TOEFL. It will also be proof of study in English for four years in an educational institution. )

● IELTS- International English Language Testing System (To be more specific, over 300 institutions in Canada approve this exam.)

PTE- Pearson Test of English (Those who have completed their education in a college/university where the                 official language was in English are not needed to prove scores of PTE.)

CAEL- Canadian Academic English Language (More than 180 colleges in Canada recognize the CAEL test)

For Diploma/Certificate courses

● Flexible admission

● Up to 3 years of full-time work experience
● GMAT: 580-600 min.
● IELTS Score- (6.5 overall with no bands less than 6 / As per the course and institution requirement)
● 4 years bachelor’s degree, 70% average.

For Undergraduate/Bachelor’s level

● 70% in 12th grade

Eligibility criteria to apply for an MBA in Canada

● Bachelor’s degree in any education stream from a recognized college. While most institutions ask for a 4-year                bachelor’s degree, some may also accept 3-year degrees
● Relevant work experience of 3-5 years in any related field. Institutions prefer students who have a minimum of 12       months of work experience
● Minimum IELTS Scores for Canadian Universities
● A GMAT score of 500- 700 out of 800 is needed to enter a good Canadian institution
