This PhD is studied on a full-time, blended learning basis over four years. Your journey will involve 36 credits of core and elective coursework, alongside 12 credits dedicated to research and writing, culminating in a substantial dissertation. The first two years typically require residency on campus, with intensive seminars at SMARTlab’s main center requiring in-person participation three times. You will work alongside international contributors, engage in group critiques, and receive feedback within research clusters. You will graduate with the ability to conduct original, impactful research and contribute significantly to the academic framework of design practice.
