The BA (Hons) Global Development with a Year Abroad at the University of East Anglia is designed for students passionate about addressing complex global challenges, from poverty and inequality to climate change and conflict. You will explore critical issues through interdisciplinary lenses, drawing on perspectives from anthropology, economics, environmental science, geography, media, and politics. This undergraduate degree provides a robust understanding of development theories, practices, and regional contexts, equipping you with the knowledge to critically analyse and contribute to a more just and sustainable world.
This full-time, on-campus programme is studied over four years, including a dedicated year abroad at one of our international partner institutions. You will engage with modules covering big questions in global development, conservation, environmental justice, and media and communication, alongside regional studies and development policy. Your learning experience will culminate in a dissertation project, allowing you to pursue in-depth research. You will graduate with highly transferable skills in research, analysis, and cross-cultural communication, prepared for diverse career paths in international organisations, NGOs, policy, and research.
