The Biomedical Engineering Department at Near East University offers a comprehensive program that blends engineering principles with medical sciences to prepare students for careers in healthcare technology and innovation. Established in 2008, it is the only department of its kind in North Cyprus and provides both undergraduate (BSc) and postgraduate (MSc, PhD) degrees. The curriculum emphasizes mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering fundamentals, while progressively introducing specialized courses such as biomedical instrumentation, biomechanics, biomaterials, medical imaging, and bioinformatics. Students gain practical experience through internships, laboratory work, and collaborations with NEU hospitals and biomedical companies, ensuring strong industry connections. Accredited by YÖK, YODAK, ASIIN, and EUR-ACE, the program guarantees international standards in education, with a focus on design, analytical rigor, and applied problem-solving. Graduates are equipped to work across diverse areas of medicine, from clinical engineering to advanced biomedical research.
