The Child and Youth Care – Accelerated advanced diploma from Humber Polytechnic is designed for individuals passionate about promoting the optimal development of children, youth, and their families. This program provides a holistic lens, equipping you with foundational knowledge in infant, child, and adolescent development, relational practice principles, family dynamics, and evidence-informed intervention strategies. Studied full-time on campus over four semesters, this accelerated program allows students with prior post-secondary education to fast-track their learning in 16 consecutive months. You will engage in three field experiences, fostering experiential learning through a therapeutic play lab and gaining practical skills in clinical, personal, and organizational areas. Your daily learning will involve exploring topics like group dynamics, mental health, cultural humility, interviewing, and counselling, preparing you for direct practice. You will graduate with the confidence and expertise to support young people with complex needs and build a rewarding career in child and youth care.
