The Penn State Dickinson Law J.D. Program is a three-year, full-time course of study, a comprehensive legal education designed for you to achieve the knowledge, skills, and professional values needed to succeed as a 21st century lawyer.

At its essence, the lawyering profession is one that seeks the truth, works to restore equity, and strives to make people and organizations whole again. The Penn State Dickinson Law J.D. Program is a three-year, full-time course of study offered in both our Carlisle and University Park locations. Our 1L curriculum will introduce you to both lawyering skills and foundational legal knowledge, while your upper-level years will begin to shape your career interests and professional identity through curricular offerings in a variety of practice areas.

Program Overview

This J.D. program provides a foundational legal education for first-year students. The curriculum covers essential legal subjects such as Torts, Civil Procedure, Criminal Law, Contracts, Constitutional Law I, and Property. Students will also develop critical legal analysis, writing, and research skills through dedicated courses and a program focused on legal success and career development.
