Journalism

The Journalism Department at Near East University offers a four-year undergraduate program taught in both Turkish and English, designed to train students as socially responsible, ethically grounded, and versatile journalists. The curriculum combines practical courses—such as news gathering and writing, interviewing, photography, radio and television journalism—with modern modules in digital media, including programming basics, video journalism, data journalism, verification, and digital news design. Alongside these, students study political science, law, economics, sociology, ethics, and cultural studies to broaden their worldview and critical thinking. Practical training is emphasized through workshops, internships, and opportunities at Near East TV, Near East Radio, and the Faculty’s journal. Graduates are prepared for careers across newspapers, magazines, online platforms, radio, and television, as well as in corporate communications, public relations, and advertising agencies, with roles ranging from reporter and editor to newsroom manager and communication strategist.
